An interactive graphics microcomputer program for the analysis and design of 2‐D framed structures is described in this paper. The system is designed to utilize the full power of microcomputer graphics technology and recent advances in computer science. The interaction between the user and the machine is provided by the mouse as an input device which allows engineers to create and load a structure visually as well as to select options rapidly from the mouse oriented menu system. The paper shows the capabilities of this new system and describes the methodology used in its development.
