The African Computer Graphics Association (Afrigraph) was established in March 2001, following the visit of a highlevel ACM SIGGRAPH-Eurographics delegation to Southern Africa. The goal of the organization is to promote computer graphics and interactive techniques throughout Africa and to help establish Virtual Reality, Computer Graphics, Visualization and Interaction as a leading African research and application activity. Historically, there has been little international participation in this area from researchers in Africa, which is something that Afrigraph seeks to remedy.
