Mike McLinden, formerly a teacher at Linden Lodge School, Wimbledon, and now a lecturer in special education in the School of Education at The University of Birmingham, reviews a prototype Progressive Tactile Timetable developed to enable a pupil with a visual impairment and severe learning difficulties to progress from the use of concrete symbols (objects of reference) to an abstract tactile code (Moon).
