This is a first report of the smoking behaviour of secondary school children with special educational needs. Dr Lynn Michell, research fellow funded by the Cancer Research Campaign in Edinburgh, assesses the attitudes of teachers towards smoking and describes the policies of schools attended by the children in the survey.
