Economic and industrial understanding is one of the cross‐curricular themes which the National Curriculum Council sees as running through the whole curriculum and on which the NCC has now issued guidance. Meanwhile the School Curriculum Industry Partnership (SCIP) had had over 12 years' experience in widening industrial understanding in schools, Margaret Matthews, Yorkshire and Humberside coordinator for SCIP, describes some of the work which has been going on in special schools.
