An aims‐based curriculum should take priority over the National Curriculum where there is an unclosable gap between the two. Barry Cornell and Nigel Carden, head and deputy head respectively, Kirkleatham Hall School, Cleveland, express this view in relation to pupils with moderate or severe learning difficulties.
