This paper attempts to point up the importance of writing, in its several aspects, for children with special educational needs. Roy Edwards, assistant education officer for special services, Staffordshire, discusses something of the nature of writing and its purposes, and anecdotally describes ways that have worked with these children in special and ordinary schools.
