Interactive whiteboards (IWBs) are in use in classrooms in many countries because of their technological power and the services they offer to learning, such as managing content, multimedia, integrating with computers and printers, and even allowing capturing the text hand written by the teacher on the board. This book is all about the theory, research and practice of IWBs. Part I (“Mapping the field”) looks into existing research on IWBs; policy issues pertaining to their integration in UK schools; and the challenges faced by educational publishers from organisational, creative, production and commercial angles. To be ready to follow the learning curve and to create digital resources for the IWB, the authors suggest we re-examine current working practices and business models.
