The article discusses the continually evolving presence of the Internet in education. The use of synchronous chat rooms, newsgroups, and discussion forums is well established in education, but other computer-mediated communication systems, such as weblogs and blogging, are relatively new developments. The article discusses the use of weblogs as a means to establish an archive of information by date, as well as to provide hyperlinks to other blogs or sites of interest. Also considered are weblog-based electronic portfolios, and the role of weblogs in teacher-student relationships.
