Dear Beginning Writer Please don’t be carried away by all that Keith Allan Noble wrote in the May Colloquium. Before you rush into clear, lucid, readable and useful text for submission to an editor. give some thought to a warning from a grey-bearded old cynic. For, in my experience, some editors aren’t quite as Noble might wish. Let me just introduce you to one or two of the conservative brigade, all of whom have been editing respected British journals during the past five years, some of whom are still in post.
