I have never been to Nigeria and what I know about its agricultural problems is only what I have read. I therefore accept Dr Talabi’s diagnosis. Over the years, however, I have had some contact with agricultural extension work in developing countries and I therefore have two major doubts on the general transferability of Dr Talabi’s solutions: I cannot say whether such doubts should also be raised in respect of Nigeria.
