The paper examines the issue of appropriate instructional media selection in a developing country such as Nigeria. Five criteria (media attributes, cost, usability, serviceability and availability) are used to assess the justifiability of different types of high technology instructional media (HTIM). Some HTIM are judged appropriate whereas some are judged inappropriate on the basis of the assessment. The paper ends by suggesting the development and use of low technology instructional media to supplement appropriate HTIM in Nigeria.
