Summary This paper reviews Fisher's research program, showing how it constituted a theoretical basis for Darwin's evolutionary, genetical and experimental work, and identifies those fields where Fisher, through his influence on colleagues and students, caused some of his aims to be carried through in Australia, particularly in experimental design and evolutionary genetics.
