Summary The coupon collector's problem is generalized by allowing unequal proportions of the various types of coupons. The upper tail probabilities are used to find the probability distribution of the waiting time. The probability generating function is expressed in terms of the hypergeometric functions and therefrom the mean and the variance are derived.
