Nancy Lindisfarne goes beyond recent concerns about anthropological involvement in government sponsored counter‐insurgency. She considers how problematic cultural rhetorics about Islam and women have become part of current imperialisms and seem to legitimize other forms of anthropological involvement such as working for NGOs during the present military occupations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
