The antidepressant trazodone differs in both pharmacological properties and structure from the tricyclic antidepressants and offers some advantages over them in terms of side effects and toxicity. However, there are reports of priapism as a side effect associated with the oral use of trazodone and alpha‐adrenoceptor blocking activity was suggested as the mechanism. It is known that the intracavernous injection of alpha‐adrenoceptor blocking agents produces erection (Brindley, 1983). We report the effect of oral trazodone in the treatment of impotence.
