Some authors doubt if spontaneous regression of metastatic renal carcinoma ever occurs. Of 125 patients who underwent nephrectomy for metastatic renal carcinoma between 1972 and 1987 we found 2 with spontaneous regression of pulmonary metastases and subsequent long‐term survival.
