Summary— Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is a rare chronic form of pyelonephritis with a clinical presentation often suggestive of a renal mass. We present 51 patients with histologically proven xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis who were treated by nephrectomy. The results are discussed and compared with those from the literature.
