Summary— One hundred patients with carcinoma of the prostate have been treated by bilateral subcapsular orchiectomy under local anaesthesia over a 5‐year period. The indications, technique and results of performing the operation in this way are described. The procedure is simple, effective and well tolerated by the patients.
