Summary— Four hundred and seventy‐four patients were examined by flexible cystoscopy under topical urethral anaesthesia in the out‐patient clinic in the first year after the technique was introduced as the routine method for diagnostic cystoscopy. The technique has proved safe, efficient and highly cost‐effective.
