Summary— A radioimmunoassay procedure has been used to measure prostatic acid phosphatase in the serum of 46 patients with intracapsular carcinoma of the prostate. The results obtained did not differ significantly from those obtained in a control group of similar size. It is concluded that the radioimmunoassay procedure for measurement of prostatic acid phosphatase has no advantage over enzyme activity measurements for the detection of early prostatic carcinoma.
