SUMMARY— Thirty‐six babies born with an anorectal anomaly were evaluated for vesicoureteric reflux in the neonatal period and the progress of the reflux with age was followed. The overall incidence of reflux was 47%, with higher rates in the more severe types of anomaly. Generally, the reflux was of mild grade and tended to resolve with time, except in the short colon syndrome. Urinary sepsis due to a rectourinary communication may have an important role in the development of reflux.
