Summary— Pre‐operative balloon occlusion of the renal artery does not influence the prognosis in patients who have established metastatic disease or involved lymph nodes at the time of surgery. In non‐metastatic tumours the prognosis appears to be better in patients who had renal artery occlusion than in those who did not, but further follow‐up and an increased number of patients will be required to confirm this impression.
