Very little has been written in British medical journals about the problems associated with artificial insemination from a donor (A.I.D.). This is probably because A.I.D. is a medical service which in the United Kingdom is almost confined to private medicine and is done only rarely in National Health Service hospital practice. This is a review of 200 childless couples referred for A.I.D. in the past 2 years by gynaecologists, urologists and general practitioners.
