Summary 3 cases of renal failure, due to procidentia, presenting as emergencies are described. The upper urinary tracts of 4 asymptomatic patients with procidentia were investigated; dilatation was found in 1 instance only. We would like to thank Miss A. Bigby and Mr Harron Thomson for allowing us to study the latter cases in this presentation, also Dr D. A. L. Bowen who performed the autopsy on the second case: and Dr F. Pygott who stimulated us to collect and publish this series.
