Summary Uriglox, a dip‐stick screening test for bacteriuria, and Uricult, a dip‐slide method of culture, were compared with semi‐quantitative culture by a standard technique. The dip‐stick test, carried out on 415 specimens of urine from out‐patients and 205 from in‐patients, gave negative results in over 40% of specimens shown to have bacteriuria on culture. The results of the 2 cultural methods were in close agreement.
