Summary A simple 1‐stage operation for unilateral and bilateral undescended testicles is described. Emphasis is placed on mobilisation of the vessels at and above the internal ring, and no fixation of the testicle is employed, dispensing with the need for incision into the scrotum. Taking into account the size, consistency, sensitivity and position of the testis, the result was satisfactory both anatomically and cosmetically in 44 out of 50 operations (88 %).
