SUMMARY A case of closed injury of the proximal ureter is reported and the English literature reviewed. The management of such cases is discussed as are the various methods of repair. The need for early surgical drainage is stressed, and it is suggested that in cases of incomplete rupture no other treatment is likely to be necessary.
