SUMMARY One hundred patients with advanced prostatic carcinoma have been treated by Yttrium 90 pituitary ablation. The results show that:1 Thirty‐nine patients experienced complete and sustained symptomatic relief; 32 showed a partial or temporary response; and 29 cases showed no response. 2 The previous response to œestrogens or previous orchidectomy appear to have little influence on the subsequent result of implantation. 3 A favourable result may be slightly more likely in patients aged less than 60, or in patients who have had the disease for more than 3 years.
