SUMMARY This paper reviews 62 children who have undergone cutaneous ureterostomy as a permanent form of urinary diversion to the skin. The advantages and limitations of this procedure are discussed and it is concluded that cutaneous ureterostomy has a definite, even if limited, place in the management of children with upper urinary dilatation and incontinence.
