SUMMARY The concentration of trimethoprim in the prostatic fluid, collected by means of pilocarpine stimulation from dogs with urinary diversions, was found to be two to three times higher than that in simultaneous serum specimens. The importance of this finding in relation to the treatment of human prostatitis is discussed and the conclusion reached that the drug merits a clinicomicrobiological trial in the treatment of prostatic infections.
