SUMMARY Twenty‐five cases treated for a variety of lower urinary tract conditions by the operation of ureteroileostomy have been studied by retrograde ileography, and the dynamics of the conduits and incidence of ureteric reflux from them analysed, to determine the effects of reflux on the status of the related kidneys and the occurrence of urinary infection. Although no relationship was demonstrated between infection and the occurrence of reflux, there appeared to be some improvement in the quality of renal function as demonstrated by intravenous urography in those cases in whom reflux had been prevented.
