SUMMARY A series of epithelial renal pelvic tumours diagnosed between the years 1960 and 1968 is reported from a county hospital in Sweden. Ten, possibly 12, of the 15 patients had been abusers of phenacetin‐containing drugs, and nine of them came from a factory whose workers were known for heavy analgesic consumption. Two abusers had also developed a urinary bladder carcinoma. All the patients but two were males, which accords with the epidemiology of analgesic abuse in this particular area. The present study supplies further circumstantial evidence for a carcinogenic effect caused by phenacetin‐containing drugs.
