SUMMARY Thirty‐eight young people aged 4 to 18 years had chronic urinary infection or enuresis or both. All had bladder neck stenosis and the main infecting organism was E. coli . Thirty‐seven had a Y‐V plasty done and all but four of the enuretics showed considerable improvement. In six children there was complete cure. The relative incidence of bladder neck and distal urethral stenosis is not agreed, but this paper gives evidence that treatment of bladder neck stenosis is likely to benefit the patient.
