SUMMARY Spontaneous rupture of the bladder is defined. Carcinoma as a cause is rare. Reports of two cases are recorded where carcinoma was the underlying pathology. The condition would appear to be very rare in the female. My thanks are due to Mr W. Barr Stirling and Mr W. Reid for allowing me to publish details of cases under their care.
