SUMMARY Two different regimes of catheterisation in gynaecological patients have been compared: one using benzalkonium chloride for swabbing the genitalia and dilute chlorhexidine for bladder lavage, and the other incorporating the use of a disinfectant combination of chlorhexidine and C.T.A.B. (Savlon), an antibiotic spray and disposable catheters smeared with a mixture of polymyxin and neomycin.
