SUMMARY The results of using radioactive gold grains in the treatment of bladder tumours are presented. The five‐year crude survival rate for mucosal stage carcinoma was 70.4 per cent, and for muscular stage carcinoma 38.9 per cent. These results are comparable with those obtained from other methods and the technique has several advantages. It is suggested that there may be a place for interstitial irradiation in the palliative treatment of perivesical stage carcinoma, but supervoltage therapy or radical surgery may prove to give better results in the future.
