SUMMARY Two cases of adenocarcinoma of the renal pelvis arising in organs the site of long‐standing infection and calculous disease are reported. An additional eleven cases collected from the literature are summarised and the clinical and pathological features of the tumour discussed. It is concluded that this is an example of a tumour arising in metaplastic epithelium and suggests that the metaplastic tendencies of the epithelium of the renal pelvis are similar to those of the bladder.
