SUMMARY The indications for cutaneous ureterostomy are discussed and a further indication is considered. A brief review of the different methods of approaching the problem is described. A method of collecting the urine from a ureterostomy is reported using a finger cot and polythene tube to a portable thigh urinal. Our thanks are due to Mr G. Y. Feggetter and Mr Fenton Braithwaite for their helpful advice and criticism.
