SUMMARY A study has been made of the parotid saliva acid phosphatase and amylase levels in a series of patients with prostatic cancer and in a series of non‐cancer patients. It is unlikely that the determination of the parotid saliva acid phosphatase could be of any help in the diagnosis of prostatic cancer. Grateful thanks are due to Mrs M. Heinrichs for skilful technical assistance, to Dr R. J. Cadoret for advice on statistical treatment, to Dr C. B. Stewart for making all the clinical data available to us, and to Dr H. Lippman, who was an excellent liaison officer between ward and laboratory. The expenses of this project were defrayed by a grant‐in‐aid from the National Cancer Institute of Canada.
