SUMMARY1 A high incidence of urinary symptoms is reported in twenty‐nine patients with Parkinsonism. 2 Urological investigation of these patients by cystometry and cystography revealed a significant incidence of uninhibited neurogenic bladder disorder, though such tonic bladder activity was not apparently directly related to increased tonus of the striated musculature of the external urethral sphincter. 3 The changes in cystometrogram pattern following stereotaxic surgery show a relationship between lesions in the thalamus or pallidum and tonic bladder activity to suggest participation of the extrapyramidal component of the nervous system in the higher centre control of micturition.
