SUMMARY Thirty‐one cases of fistula of the urethra were encountered at the National Spinal Injuries Centre amongst 2,060 male paraplegics. Only two cases developed during treatment at the centre itself. Ten fistulae were due to avoidable external causes, and twenty fistulas were due to mismanagement of a urethral catheter. Treatment is discussed and a new application of Turner Warwick's principle is described for the more extensive and recurrent urethral diverticula.
