SUMMARY Cysto‐urethrography is the most valuable urological examination in paraplegia. It helps to locate exactly the sector of the urethra responsible for retention of urine. It makes it possible to assess the effect of an operation, and in case of failure it makes it clear what should next be attacked surgically. It gives an excellent representation of the effects of infection and in many cases helps to establish indications for surgical treatment. In some cases it contributes to a radiological representation of the upper urinary tract.
