SUMMARY A new long‐acting sulphonamide, sulphadimethoxine (“ Madribon ”) was given to seventeen hospital in‐patients with acute urinary infections and the results were compared with those in twenty patients with similar infections treated with trisulphonamide (“ Sulphatriad ”). Sulphadimethoxine proved to be as effective as trisulphonamide and was better tolerated. Sulphadimethoxine is regarded as a promising addition to the sulphonamide drugs, and further work with it is being undertaken.
