SUMMARY A case is described of unilateral renal hypoplasia, in which tubules resembling epididymal tubules were found. The origin of these tubules is discussed and it is considered possible that they might have arisen from a spill‐over of an evocator from the fetal epididymis into the dilated end of the metanephric duct. This would explain the presence of ciliated epithelium in the hypoplastic kidney and in the upper end of the ureter.
