SUMMARY 1. The results obtained in 129 dialyses on eighty‐five patients are presented. 2. Modifications to the Kolff‐Brigham artificial kidney to increase flow rate and dialysing surface area are described. 3. Some details of the properties of cellophane as a dialysing membrane are given. 4. The effect of flow rate, dialysing surface area, and diffusion gradient on clearance rates are presented. 5. Preliminary dialysis of the citrated blood in the machine is suggested.
