SUMMARY The technique of the nephroplasty operation has been described. The operation was originally devised for the relief of hydronephrosis due to a lower polar artery. It has now been shown that nephroplasty also improves the hydrodynamics of a hydronephrotic kidney and eliminates or reduces residual urine in the kidney once the cause of the obstruction has been removed.
