SUMMARY A study of the frequency of occurrence of some forms of epithelial aberrancy in the urinary tract in man has shown that subepithelial masses of epithelial cells and epithelial crypts are extremely common. The exact form of these two abnormalities is described and their manner of formation and relationship to pyelitis cystica and pyelitis glandularis are discussed. Some of the conclusions reached are supported by experimental evidence and by a study of the urinary tract in the horse.
