SUMMARY Seven patients are described who had a very active fibrous process in the retroperitoneal tissues amongst the main vessels and in whom this fibrosis had obstructed one or both ureters. Ten previously reported cases are briefly reviewed. The treatment of the disease is discussed. The possibility that this disease might affect only the main vessels is suggested by the case histories of two further patients.
