SUMMARY It is generally accepted that adenomatoid tumours are small, slow‐growing, and benign, occurring in the epididymis, tunica albuginea and vaginalis, uterus tubes and ovary. They are circumscribed, encapsulated, and firm, and possess a characteristic microscopical structure. The theories of origin are discussed, and it is most likely that they arise from vestiges of the Müllerian duct as shown by Sundarasivarao (1953). It is possible that they are hamartomata (malformations) rather than true neoplasms. One case from the epididymis and one from the tunica albuginea are described and the literature is reviewed.
